A MESSAGE FROM THE HOME SCHOOL LIAISON OFFICER

Dear Parent/Caregiver,

Home School Liaison Officers are employed by the Department of Education & Training to monitor school attendance and to provide a supportive resource for students, parents and schools.

My role is to encourage regular school attendance of all students at school. When there are attendance difficulties I work with the school in an attempt to resolve them.

If your child is absent from school for any reason, please ensure that a note explaining your child's absence is sent to school as soon as possible. When writing a note please ensure that the following are included:

*Full name of student

*Year or class

*Date/s of absence

*Reason for absences eg. Sickness, dentist appointment etc

*Parent signature

It is a requirement that all absences are explained within 7 days.

Phone calls to explain absences are acceptable, however please ensure that these calls are made directly to the front office. Please explain that you are making a verbal explanation for an absence and that you wish it to be recorded.

If you have concerns about your child's attendance at school please do not hesitate to contact the school or myself. I can be contacted through the school or you can phone me directly on 48218559.
