On the last Thursday of Term 2, when lots of people were off ice skating in Canberra and watching Bell Shakespeare's
Henry V, four dedicated students remained at school, participating in the NAIDOC Debating Competition held in our school library. We hosted students from Young HS, Braidwood Crentral and Binda PS.
With very limited preparation, Philip Mills, Caitlin Muddiman, Briannah Pearson and Shania Cole, fought a fiercely contested debate against Braidwood Central School. Teams argued the topic of ‘only a citizen soldier should be asked to defend their country' and Mulwaree was on the affirmative side. Both teams supported their cases with very strong arguments and examples.
Unfortunately, Braidwood was too good on the day, narrowly defeating the Mulwaree team. The good news is, though, that we get to have another shot at Braidwood in the regional final to be held later in term 3 in Batemans Bay. Stay tuned for the results.
