Careers are an integral part of the Curriculum particularly in Year 10.
During that year the school embarks on a comprehensive program of school to work as well as offering Work Experience to all Year 10.
Work Experience is not a right but a privilege, earned by the application of the students to careers and all other facets of Year 10. The Work Experience Program consists of a block week held at a time mutually convenient to student and employer. The aim of the program is to develop an understanding of the political, economic and sociological processes operating in the world of work.
Also in Year 10 students have career lessons where they are exposed to decision making, options available to them after leaving school, job preparation, resume writing, subject selection for Years 11 and 12. The lessons provide information so that students make informed decisions about their post school options.
In conclusion, we endeavour to assist students to gain an appreciation of the factors that determine patterns, organisation and conditions of work and we hope to provide positive encouragement and practical support for all students in a manner which will ensure students understand the context of work and the influences which may bring about changes.
